"I've intimidated men my entire life and it has nothing to do with fame."
It seems Anne Hathaway's jailed ex-boyfriend, Raffaello Follieri, can't hack it behind bars.
Flora Edwards, the convicted con man's attorney, sent a letter on his behalf to a judge claiming that showers at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center are filled with excrement, food appears to be spoiled and the entire facility has an intolerable stench, the New York Post reported.
"Clearly, no one should be subjected to these conditions. However, in Mr. Follieri's case, the unsanitary environment appears to have had a detrimental effect on his health," Edwards wrote to the judge.
Follieri, 30, who was transferred to the Brooklyn jail on Oct. 27, may still be sleeping in the same city as his former flame, but it's far different than the $37,500-a-month apartment in Manhattan's Trump Tower. Follieri now bunks with 120 other inmates in a windowless dorm room.
Follieri — who was sentenced to more than 4 years in prison for cheating investors out of millions of dollars by claiming he had Vatican connections that enabled him to buy discounted Roman Catholic Church property — has also been running a fever for the past weeks.
"Although I am not a doctor, I have seen him regularly and he feels warm to the touch and his eyes are glassy," Edwards wrote, according to the Post.

Anne Hathaway's ex-boyfriend says he is being held in "unspeakably unsanitary" conditions in jail.
Raffaello Follieri - who was jailed last month for wire fraud, conspiracy and money laundering - claims his health has deteriorated and has requested a move from the Brooklyn jail where he is currently housed.
A letter sent by Follieri's lawyer to a judge read: "He says that he cannot eat because the food appears to be spoiled and that the toilet and shower facilities are unspeakably unsanitary.
"There is excrement in the shower and rats are roaming freely in the area. He says the stench is intolerable.
"Clearly, no one should be subjected to these conditions. However, in Mr. Follieri's case, the unsanitary environment appears to have had a detrimental effect on his health."
The letter added that the squalid conditions of the jail have left Follieri with a running fever and blood in his urine.
Follieri was arrested in June this year and later pleaded guilty to cheating investors out of millions of dollars by claiming he could buy discounted Roman Catholic Church property.
He was sentenced to 54 months in jail.
Follieri claimed he had been seduced by the A-list lifestyle he enjoyed during his relationship with 'The Devil Wears Prada' actress Anne, who split with Follieri shortly before his arrest.
She has since distanced herself from the relationship and joked about it on US TV show 'Saturday Night Live'.

There’s no doubt Anne Hathaway is a talented actress, but even she’s had a hard time concealing her excitement about the new man in her life. “I happened to meet a sexy guy the other day,” she divulged at the Oct. 20 London premiere of her new movie, Rachel Getting Married. “You know when you don’t know someone very well…you just meet them and you’re like, ‘Wow, you really have it going on’?” As it turns out, the object of Anne’s affection thinks the actress has it going on, too.

Anne Hathaway seemed immensely proud of herself but also reluctant, initially, to make too big a deal of her experience filming the family dramedy " Rachel Getting Married." The loosely staged movie -- which follows a New England family over the course of an emotionally wrought weekend of nuptial revelry -- came out last month and has been generating the earliest of early Oscar buzz for Hathaway ever since.
Seated in the garden patio of a Beverly Hills hotel, the former 'tween icon spoke self-deprecatingly of her "great, spooky, unspoken" connection with "Rachel" director Jonathan Demme. She also detailed how staying in character for the duration of the shoot was "liberating" because it enabled her to concentrate on nothing other than being in the moment. And at one point, Hathaway chided herself for "sounding a little crazy" to take it all so seriously.

Three famous people unlikely to visit A-list swindler Raffaello Follieri in federal prison:
Ex-President Bill Clinton.
Actress Anne Hathaway.
Billionaire supermarket mogul Ron Burkle.
The handsome young Italian wooed and won them all during his five-year run as a high-rolling international con man. He squired the gorgeous Hathaway around the globe, boasted of his access to the Vatican, looked down on Manhattan from his $37,000-a-month Olympic Tower duplex.
Hollywood star Anne Hathaway has played down claims she could be in line for an Academy Award due to her starring role in family drama Rachel Getting Married.
The actress was speaking at the film's UK premiere in a rain-soaked Leicester Square in London.
Hathaway, 25, said the Oscar buzz surrounding her was "really cool" but insisted it was "a little premature to get excited about".
The film was highly acclaimed when it screened at the Venice Film Festival.
Troubled role
Hathaway, who arrived at the premiere dressed in a long blue gown, revealed she had almost fallen over when she arrived.
"I've been rained on and almost tripped on the red carpet," she laughed.
The star plays Kym in Rachel Getting Married, a troubled woman who returns from rehab to the family home for the wedding of her sister Rachel (Rosemarie DeWitt).
The actress will star in Bride Wars next year alongside Candice Bergen and Kate Hudson.
It has also been reported she will feature in Tim Burton's Disney version of Alice in Wonderland.
